At ADIPEC, Equatorial Guinea Seeks to Broaden Investment Appeal in Middle East
For decades, Equatorial Guinea has built an exceptional reputation amongst oil and gas companies in the Americas, Europe and Asia. But largely missing from its investor portfolio is a crucial oil and gas region: the Middle East. That will change next month as EG Ronda rolls into the United Arab Emirates for the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), the region’s biggest showcase for oil and gas investment. With access to more than 2,000 companies in participation, the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons will seek to broaden Equatorial Guinea’s appeal within the Middle East and engage interested parties in exploration and farm-in opportunities. The Ministry will host a special session on November 7, 2016 at 11:30 am as part of the ADIPEC VIP Programme to members of the Middle East Petroleum Club.
“We are thrilled to bring EG Ronda to ADIPEC, the best and biggest platform in the region for doing oil and gas business,” said H.E. Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima, the Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons. “We launched this fifth licensing round knowing that diversifying our investor base would be critical to our success and we are eager to forge new ties with firms in the Middle East.”
At ADIPEC, the Minister will present on upstream oil and gas exploration opportunities in Equatorial Guinea and the country’s role in the global energy economy. His presentation will be followed by a moderated panel discussion featuring key industry practitioners in the market.
The investment visit to Abu Dhabi comes amidst a period of strengthening relations between Equatorial Guinea and the Arab world. On October 24, 2017, Equatorial Guinea and Kuwait signed a memorandum of understanding regulating bilateral relations between the countries during an official state visit by Equatorial Guinea President, H.E. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. From November 18-20, Equatorial Guinea will host the 4th Africa-Arab Summit, which will gather members of the African Union and the Arab League.
ADIPEC is the Middle East’s biggest oil and gas exhibition and conference, attracting nearly 100,000 attendees. Launched in 2014, its VIP Programme is an exclusive series of strategic briefings and panel discussions designed for Middle East Petroleum Club members, which includes ministries, government bodies, international oil companies, state-owned companies and diplomatic institutions.
EG Ronda 2016 launched on June 6, 2016 at the Africa Oil & Power conference and will conclude on November 30, 2016. The MMH invites bids on all open acreage outside of blocks under direct negotiation.
